Live TV Outburst Over Republican 'Lies'
In a stunning moment on Friday's broadcast, Morning Joe host Joe Scarborough unleashed an expletive-laden rant directed at House Speaker Mike Johnson that left viewers stunned. The 62-year-old presenter, normally measured in his delivery, dropped the F-word during the 6:18am segment while sitting beside his wife and co-host Mika Brzezinski.
The Trigger: A Viral Video and Republican Response
The MS NOW host's fury was ignited by Mike Johnson and other Republicans' reaction to a video posted on X Tuesday featuring six Democratic lawmakers. The politicians, all veterans, had urged military and intelligence personnel to 'refuse illegal orders' from any future Trump administration.
Former President Donald Trump escalated tensions on Thursday with a series of Truth Social posts condemning the message as 'SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR, punishable by DEATH!' Scarborough's anger peaked during Johnson's attempts to put a positive spin on the situation during a White House press conference.
'These people are lying through their f*ck-, their teeth,' Scarborough declared, momentarily slipping into his original southern accent before catching himself. The outburst marked a rare departure from professional broadcasting standards for the early morning programme.
No Apology Forthcoming
Remarkably, no apology was issued for the profane outburst. The Daily Mail has reached out to both Scarborough and MS NOW for comment regarding the incident, which occurred just one week after the network completed its rebranding from MSNBC following its separation from NBC and former parent company Comcast.
Joined by his wife and longtime cohost Mika Brzezinski, Scarborough accused Johnson of abandoning 'his sacred oath' and deliberately misleading the public. 'And that is not commit illegal actions. And they know that,' he argued passionately.
The host also targeted White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, playing a clip where she incorrectly told reporters that the Democratic lawmakers were urging the military to refuse 'lawful orders' rather than the actual message about illegal orders.
Co-host Jonathan Lemire emphasised the gravity of the situation, noting 'The United States is calling for the execution of lawmakers' while Scarborough dismissed Trump's rhetoric as a distraction tactic, bringing up the Epstein files as evidence of the former president's attempts to shift focus.
