In a festive twist on national security, former US President Donald Trump has revealed that American authorities actively monitor the movements of Father Christmas. The revelation came during his annual tradition of calling children across the United States in the lead-up to Christmas.
Santa on the Radar
Speaking to a child from Oklahoma, Trump explained the unusual surveillance operation. He stated that Santa is tracked 'all over the world' to ensure he is 'being good' and to prevent a 'bad Santa' from infiltrating the country. 'We want to make sure that he's not infiltrated, that we're not infiltrating into our country a bad Santa,' Trump told the youngster. He concluded the reassurance by confirming that Santa is, indeed, good and loves Oklahoma, a state Trump noted was 'very good to me in the election.'
Clean Coal Quip
In a separate conversation with another child, the topic of Christmas presents arose. When the child quipped that they did not want coal, Trump swiftly responded by asking, 'You mean clean, beautiful coal?' Turning to the cameras, he added, 'Sorry I had to do that,' before reiterating to the child, 'Coal is clean and beautiful, you remember that.' The moment highlighted Trump's long-standing advocacy for the coal industry, even in a festive setting.
Poll Crowns Melania's Decor
The unusual Santa revelations coincide with new polling data on White House Christmas aesthetics. A Daily Mail poll conducted by JL Partners on December 20th and 21st asked 1,000 registered voters to choose their preferred Christmas decoration styles from recent First Ladies. The results showed a clear preference for Melania Trump's festive designs.
When shown anonymous pictures of the 2025 Trump decorations and the 2024 Jill Biden decorations, 61 percent of respondents favoured Melania Trump's style, compared to 39 percent for Jill Biden's. The preference crossed political lines, with even Democratic voters choosing the Trump decor by a margin of 54 percent to 46 percent.
Melania Trump's festive vision proved even more popular when pitted against Michelle Obama's 2016 decor. She triumphed by a significant margin of 67 percent to 33 percent. Once again, Democrats broke ranks, preferring Trump's decorations over Obama's by 62 percent to 38 percent.
The juxtaposition of Trump's playful, security-focused chat with children and the polling data underscores the enduring cultural and political footprint of the Trump family, even on seemingly apolitical matters like Christmas traditions and holiday decor.
