Abbie Chatfield's KIIS FM Breakfast Role Sparks Questions Over Timeslot Change
Abbie Chatfield's KIIS FM Role Sparks Timeslot Questions

Abbie Chatfield's new role as a fill-in breakfast presenter on KIIS FM following the cancellation of The Kyle and Jackie O Show has come with a surprising twist. The 30-year-old media personality shared an update with her followers on Tuesday morning, revealing she would be guest hosting the weekday spot for the next two weeks, from 7am to 9am.

However, the KIIS FM breakfast show has traditionally run from 6am to 9am, leading to questions about what the station will be presenting for the other hour. A KIIS FM representative told Daily Mail that the two-hour timeslot was a conscious choice on their part to shake up the program.

'The show runs from 6-9am, and our guest hosts have been doing 7-9am,' they began. 'Abbie Chatfield is the latest guest host who has signed up to join KIIS FM Breakfast for the week, sitting alongside host Mike E, with Brooklyn, Nat, Intern Pete and the broader KIIS Breakfast team. One of Australia's most recognisable media personalities, Abbie will bring her sharp pop-culture commentary, humour and straight-talking style to the breakfast show, following a rotation of guest hosts including TEN News journalist Georgie Tunny.'

Meanwhile, Abbie expressed her excitement about her new role in a statement: 'I'm so excited to jump in with the KIIS Breakfast crew for the week. Breakfast radio is fast, fun, and full-on in the best way, so I think I'll be a perfect fit! I can't wait to get on air,' she said.

On Monday, Abbie was welcomed into the KIIS family with open arms. The 30-year-old was embraced on set by Pete Deppeler, nicknamed Intern Pete, a producer, reporter and occasional on-air talent who worked with Kyle Sandilands and Jackie 'O' Henderson for years. In photos and video shared on Instagram, Abbie and Pete cuddled and laughed together during a segment.

Abbie proved that she fit right in with the talent and staff at the radio network, which has in recent months been embroiled in controversy after the departure of Kyle and Jackie. The social media star walked away from her own radio career back in 2023, when she quit Hot Nights with Abbie Chatfield on the Hit Network.

Meanwhile, KIIS FM has remained tight-lipped about potential replacement plans amid its ongoing legal battle over unfair dismissal claims by Kyle and Jackie. However, sources told news.com.au that talks with prospective replacements are already 'well underway'.
