Kaye Adams Permanently Removed from BBC Scotland Radio Show
Loose Women presenter Kaye Adams has been officially axed from her BBC Scotland radio programme, Mornings With, following allegations about her behaviour in the workplace. The decision, confirmed by BBC Scotland, means Adams will not be returning to the role she has held for 15 years, after being taken off air in October last year.
Misconduct Claims Upheld Against Veteran Presenter
According to reports from The Daily Record and Scottish Daily Express, three misconduct claims against the 63-year-old broadcaster have been upheld. The allegations include:
- Throwing a pen at a colleague
- Using offensive language against another staff member
- Belittling an intern and their professional skills
Two additional claims were reportedly not upheld. The BBC has declined to comment on individual cases, stating only that they manage complaints through "robust internal processes."
Adams Denies Wrongdoing, Cites 'Assertiveness'
Adams has previously denied any misconduct, suggesting that her "assertiveness" might have been misinterpreted as bullying. On her podcast, How To Be 60, she described enduring "the most wretched" time since the allegations emerged, revealing she has been struggling with sleep and routine changes since leaving the show.
"I tell you what I'm finding hard is not sleeping," Adams told co-host Karen MacKenzie. "I love my sleep and I'm not sleeping so well."
Friend Claims 'Stitch-Up' by BBC
A friend of Adams has told The Sun that her departure "feels like a stitch-up," questioning why the BBC would remove a presenter with strong ratings and a long history at the corporation without previous complaints.
"Her ratings are really good — the highest on BBC Scotland," the source said. "She's worked there for 15 years without issue, and at ITV without complaints since 1999. Are we to believe she has suddenly become a different person?"
The friend suggested the BBC might have wanted Adams out but avoided accusations of ageism or sexism by using the misconduct allegations.
BBC's Call It Out Scheme Used for Complaint
It is believed the complaint against Adams was made through the BBC's Call It Out scheme, an initiative established to address inappropriate workplace behaviour following previous scandals involving high-profile presenters. The scheme represents the corporation's ongoing efforts to improve workplace culture and accountability.
BBC Scotland has confirmed that Connie McLaughlin will continue presenting Mornings With on Mondays to Wednesdays, with Stephen Jardine covering Thursdays and Fridays for the immediate future.
