Interim Chelsea manager Calum McFarlane has expressed his disappointment over Liam Rosenior's dismissal, stating he is "gutted" that things did not work out for the former manager. McFarlane revealed he had a "good conversation" with Rosenior on the phone following his sacking after Chelsea's 3-0 defeat to Brighton.
Rosenior's Departure
Rosenior was sacked after Chelsea suffered a 3-0 loss to Brighton, marking their fifth consecutive league defeat without scoring. This run is the club's worst in 114 years. McFarlane, who had a good relationship with Rosenior, expressed his sadness over the outcome.
McFarlane's Focus
McFarlane, who previously served as interim boss for two games in January, is now focused on preparing the team for their FA Cup semi-final against Leeds on Sunday. He revealed that he is yet to have a "clear-the-air-meeting" with the players following Rosenior's exit.
Injury Updates
McFarlane confirmed that Estevao is ruled out for the remainder of the season due to a hamstring injury, which was worse than initially feared. However, he provided a positive update on Joao Pedro and Cole Palmer, stating that both have returned to training after thigh and hamstring injuries respectively. A decision on their availability for the Leeds match will be made soon.
