Tess Daly was absent from the BAFTA TV Awards on Sunday, following her announcement over the weekend that she and Vernon Kay had separated after nearly 23 years of marriage. The former Strictly Come Dancing host, 57, would typically have been a regular at the event, which took place at London's Royal Festival Hall.
Netflix's Adolescence was the night's biggest winner, while emotional acceptance speeches from This Morning's Martin Lewis and Dame Mary Berry moved viewers. Daly's former co-host Claudia Winkleman attended and saw her show The Celebrity Traitors win the award for Best Reality.
Winkleman celebrated the win on Instagram, writing: "Thank you thank you @BAFTA we are SO happy." Daly, though not present, sent a congratulatory message: "The very best. Love you." The pair stepped down from Strictly last year after more than a decade co-hosting.
Daly and Kay, who married in 2003 and have two daughters, announced their amicable split on Friday via a joint Instagram statement. It read: "After much consideration, and with a deep sense of care and respect for one another, we have made the decision to separate amicably... There are no other parties involved."
Kay, a BBC Radio 2 host and former I'm a Celebrity star, had previously expressed support for Daly after she quit Strictly, saying the show "holds a special place in both of our hearts."
