Kate: Busy Royal Events 'Really Hard', Told to Speak Up

The Princess of Wales has made a rare confession about the difficulties she faces during major royal engagements, revealing that she finds bustling events "really hard" and is often told to speak up. Kate Middleton, known for her soft-spoken nature, shared this candid admission while attending a reception at Buckingham Palace to honour the late Queen Elizabeth II on what would have been her 100th birthday.

Royal Reception for the Late Queen

Kate joined other senior royals at the London event, which also celebrated Britons who were turning 100 years old. She paid tribute to the former monarch by wearing a three-strand pearl necklace that once belonged to Queen Elizabeth II. During conversations with guests, including charity representatives and centenarians, the Princess of Wales opened up about the challenges of navigating noisy environments at royal functions.

"I find these environments are really hard. I've also got a very soft voice, so I always get told 'Speak up a bit louder!" she confessed to a group of women. This is not the first time Kate has spoken about the difficulties of royal duties. In a 2016 ITV documentary, Our Queen at Ninety, she admitted to struggling with walkabout protocols, saying, "There's a real art to walkabouts, everybody teases me in the family that I spend far too long chatting. I still have to learn a little bit more, and to pick up a few more tips, I suppose."

Body Language Expert Praises Kate's Poise

Despite her personal challenges, body language expert Judi James noted that Kate exuded confidence and warmth at the reception. James described the Princess as a "perfect and very active hostess," whose lilac dress and pearl necklace served as a powerful homage to the late Queen. Kate was seen spending considerable time talking with some of the UK's oldest citizens, listening intently and smiling warmly.

James highlighted Kate's ability to make guests feel at ease through her body language, including maintaining physical contact and using expressive gestures. "When she is speaking and laughing with another group she raises both her hands in mid air in a truncated ritual to suggest she is almost helpless with laughter," James explained. The expert added that Kate's fun-loving nature, reminiscent of the late Queen, helped create a relaxed atmosphere during the celebration of Queen Elizabeth II's life.

Kate's generous approach to engagements has been noted before, as she often falls behind her family during walkabouts to spend extra time with well-wishers. This dedication to connecting with the public was evident at the Buckingham Palace reception, where she honoured both the late Queen and the centenarians in attendance.
