I'm A Celebrity Star's Heartfelt Tribute to Late Cousin at Qatar Charity Football Match
I'm A Celebrity contestant Angry Ginge, whose real name is Morgan Burtwistle, has shared an emotional tribute to his late cousin Harley McNulty, who tragically passed away at just 19 years old earlier this month. The 24-year-old social media personality revealed his plans to honour Harley's memory during a prestigious charity football event in Qatar.
Black Armband Tribute Announced on Social Media
In a heartfelt Instagram story posted on the morning of January 30, Angry Ginge explained his intention to wear a black armband during the Match for Hope 2026 charity football game. "Good morning ladies and gentlemen, it is match day. I can't wait, I'm buzzing, I'm absolutely buzzing," he began, before adding, "But I just thought I'd come on here and do a quick story about tonight. I basically thought I would announce this now and then there's less questions when I get back and you all understand why I'm wearing it. I will be wearing a black arm band like footballers do when you lose someone."
The Manchester-born star continued, "So two weeks ago, one of my cousins Harley passed away, he was only 19 and a Manchester lad as usual, same place as we're all from. So I'm wearing the arm band for him, for his family and so I thought I'd let you all know beforehand."
Supporting the Family Through GoFundMe Campaign
Angry Ginge also encouraged his followers to support Harley's family through a GoFundMe page that has been set up to help cover funeral expenses. "He's also got a GoFundMe if you want to donate a quid or 50p if you can or a fiver - anything you can, feel free," he said. "I've also donated so I'm not doing one of those things where you do and I don't, don't worry, but yeah it would mean the world to their family."
The fundraising page, organised by Chanel Dillion, a close friend of Harley's mother, has already raised over £16,000. In her emotional appeal, Chanel described Harley as "the heart and soul" of any gathering, noting that "the smile he had could light up any room." She wrote, "Harley was a beautiful funny, loving, mischievous, caring lad with the whole world ahead of him. He was the life and soul of the party and would light up the room with his infectious smile, funny character and let's not forget his rapping we all know he loved a good rap."
Match for Hope 2026 Charity Event in Qatar
The tribute took place at the prestigious Match for Hope 2026 charity football event held at the Ahmad bin Ali Stadium in Qatar. This annual event brings together online creators and football legends to raise funds for educational and charitable initiatives, including the Education Above All Foundation. Angry Ginge's participation in this high-profile event provided a significant platform for his personal tribute and fundraising efforts.
Harley McNulty sadly passed away on Saturday, January 10, leaving his family and friends devastated. Chanel's GoFundMe description captures the profound loss, stating, "Harley sadly passed away on Saturday 10th January leaving his family and friends broken, with no words to describe or believe this has even happened." She added, "He was the most amazing son, brother, grandson, nephew cousin and friend to all always making everyone around him smile and laugh so let's continue to make his family know how much he was loved and give them the support they need at this such devastating time."
Angry Ginge's public tribute and fundraising appeal demonstrate how celebrities can use their platforms to support grieving families while raising awareness for important causes. The combination of his emotional Instagram announcement and participation in the Qatar charity match has created a powerful memorial for his young cousin.
