Chelsea legend John Terry has launched a fierce critique of his former club's performance, following their damaging 3-1 Premier League defeat to Leeds United at Elland Road on Wednesday evening.

The former Blues captain, who made over 700 appearances for the club, did not hold back in his assessment. In a video posted on TikTok, Terry labelled the display "poor" and highlighted a failure to handle the notoriously hostile atmosphere. Chelsea had entered the match in strong form, having recently beaten Barcelona in the Champions League and held league leaders Arsenal to a 1-1 draw.
However, Enzo Maresca's side crumbled, conceding goals to Jaka Bijol, Ao Tanaka, and Dominic Calvert-Lewin. A second-half strike from Pedro Neto proved only a consolation. The result leaves Chelsea in fourth place, nine points behind Arsenal at the summit, severely denting their recently touted title credentials.

"We cannot follow up two unbelievable performances... with that performance tonight, because it’s certainly not going to make you title contenders," Terry asserted. He suggested the team's inexperience showed, failing to "earn the right to play" by matching Leeds's aggression before attempting to play their football.
The club icon also questioned Maresca's team selection, implying the manager's five rotations backfired. Terry speculated that Maresca may now abandon rotation, focusing on a core group of 13-14 players. "Goal from a set piece, individual mistakes defensively, clearly not good enough," he summarised bluntly.
