Rory McIlroy has declared himself more motivated than ever after successfully defending his Masters title last month. The Northern Irish golfer became only the fourth player in history to achieve consecutive victories at Augusta National, joining an elite group that includes Jack Nicklaus, Nick Faldo, and Tiger Woods.
Return to Competition
McIlroy is set to return to competitive play at the Truist Championship this week, ahead of the US PGA Championship. The world number one has been enjoying a period of downtime following his historic triumph, including a trip to New York and attending a State Dinner at the White House alongside Donald Trump and King Charles.
Masters Champions Dinner
McIlroy hosted this year's Masters Champions Dinner, an event that received some criticism for not reflecting his Northern Irish heritage. The golfer is considering a more relaxed approach for next year's dinner, potentially incorporating elements that pay homage to his roots. Speaking on the New Heights podcast with Travis and Jason Kelce, McIlroy likened hosting the dinner to planning a wedding day.
Despite the scrutiny, McIlroy remains focused on his game. 'I feel more driven than ever,' he said. 'Winning at Augusta again only fuels my desire to keep improving and competing at the highest level.'
