PSG to Face Arsenal in Champions League Final After Bayern Thriller
PSG to Face Arsenal in Champions League Final

Paris St Germain will meet Arsenal in the Champions League final after a 1-1 draw with Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena secured a 6-5 aggregate semi-final victory.

First Half Drama

Following last week's astonishing first leg in Paris, which saw the European champions win 5-4, this return leg was a more measured but equally captivating affair. Ousmane Dembele's third-minute goal gave PSG a two-goal lead on aggregate, suggesting another explosive night of attacking football was in store. However, Bayern could not replicate the threat that had seen them recover from 5-2 down in the first leg.

Bayern were furious not to be awarded a penalty midway through the half when Joao Neves handled the ball after a teammate's clearance. The referee deemed it unintentional as it was a PSG player who made the clearance.

Neves then forced a fine save from Manuel Neuer, who tipped his header wide. Jonathan Tah headed wide from a free-kick in the final minute of the half, a rare Bayern chance.

Second Half Pressure

At the start of the second half, Neuer saved twice in quick succession from Desire Doue and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. Doue tried again with a low drive that brought another excellent stop from the Bayern goalkeeper.

Luis Diaz came close for the hosts, denied by Matvei Safonov, but PSG remained the greater threat. Doue blasted an effort inches wide with Neuer beaten as PSG looked to seal the tie.

Kvaratskhelia then burst through Bayern's defence but missed his kick with the goal at his mercy.

Late Drama

England captain Harry Kane found space inside the box to lash a finish into the roof of the net deep in stoppage time, setting up a tense finale. However, Bayern had left themselves insufficient time to complete a famous fightback.

Luis Enrique's side had looked likeliest to add to their tally, with Neuer performing heroics to keep Bayern's hopes alive until the end. In the end, the holders needed nothing further to book their place alongside Mikel Arteta's side in Budapest on May 30.
