Tiger Woods' Sun Day Red Apparel Line Exceeds Revenue Targets, Eyes Top Talent
Tiger Woods' Sun Day Red Apparel Line Exceeds Revenue Targets

Tiger Woods' highly anticipated golf apparel line, Sun Day Red, is aggressively pursuing partnerships with the sport's biggest stars as it continues to surpass financial expectations. The golf icon launched this clothing and accessory brand in partnership with TaylorMade in May 2024, marking a significant shift after ending his 27-year association with sportswear giant Nike.

Revenue Surpasses All Projections

David Abeles, CEO of both Sun Day Red and TaylorMade, has revealed that the brand's financial performance has been extraordinary. 'Our revenues have grown faster than we ever could have ever expected,' Abeles told Front Office Sports. 'They're truly remarkable. We've exceeded all of our revenue projections.' This early success suggests the decision to collaborate with TaylorMade is proving highly lucrative.

Building a Premier Ambassador Team

Capitalising on its initial momentum, Sun Day Red signed Karl Vilips as its first brand ambassador in February 2025. Vilips subsequently won the PGA Tour's Puerto Rico Open in March 2025 and currently holds the 137th position in the Official World Golf Ranking. The company is now actively seeking to expand its roster with more elite talent.

'We're absolutely working with more tour players to determine who can fit that criteria and those brand standards,' Abeles explained. 'We'll build a wonderful unified team, much like we have at TaylorMade.' TaylorMade's existing stable includes club and ball deals with World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, Tommy Fleetwood, and women's World No. 2 Nelly Korda.

Expansion into Women's Apparel and Premium Retail

With Sun Day Red scheduled to launch its first women's clothing line later this year, Abeles expressed enthusiasm about recruiting top female golfers to the brand. The merchandise, noted for its premium pricing, initially sold online in 2024 before expanding to select retail locations such as private golf clubs and luxury resorts.

The product range includes:

  • Polo shirts priced from $115 to $150
  • Hoodies at $200
  • Shorts for $135
  • Pants for $165
  • Hats for $50

The Inspiration Behind Sun Day Red

The brand's name, Sun Day Red, is inspired by Tiger Woods' iconic tradition of wearing red attire on the final day of tournaments. This practice was initiated by his mother, Kultida, who believed the colour empowered him. Woods has been actively modelling the collection, wearing it during tournament appearances, at his TGL matches, and in casual settings off the course.

Tiger Woods' Current Status and Legacy

Despite his competitive schedule winding down, Tiger Woods remains a colossal figure in the sport. Forbes estimates his net worth at approximately US$1.3 billion as of June 2025. The 15-time major winner, who turned 50 in December 2024, has not competed in a professional tournament since the 2024 Open Championship at Royal Troon, where he missed the cut.

His last full four-round professional event was the 2024 Masters Tournament. Woods is currently recovering from his seventh career back surgery, a disc replacement procedure performed in October 2024. He has acknowledged the challenging recovery process, expressing a hope for a quicker healing timeline. This period of convalescence coincides with the remarkable commercial ascent of his Sun Day Red venture.
