The established order of UK mobile networks is facing a significant new challenger. Financial technology firm Revolut has officially begun rolling out its own mobile service, Revolut Mobile, directly taking on giants like EE, Vodafone, O2, and Three.
A Disruptive Price Point and Generous Perks
Revolut's opening salvo is a remarkably competitive price plan. Early adopters are being offered totally unlimited 5G data, calls, and texts for just £12.50 per month. This undercuts comparable unlimited packages from major rivals by a substantial margin; for example, both EE and Vodafone currently charge around £25 monthly for a similar service.
The value proposition extends beyond UK borders. The plan includes a generous 20GB of roaming data across the European Union and the United States at no extra cost. This allows users to stay connected in destinations like Paris, Berlin, New York, and Los Angeles without incurring the hefty additional fees many other UK networks still impose, particularly for travel to the US.
Innovative Features for a Global Audience
Revolut Mobile is bundling several innovative features designed for modern, connected users. Subscribers get a Messaging Pass for global use in over 80 countries, providing low-bandwidth data specifically for apps like WhatsApp. A single plan can also host up to three different phone numbers, simplifying the management of personal, work, and travel lines.
Furthermore, every Revolut Mobile subscription comes with a complimentary NordVPN membership, adding a layer of security and privacy for browsing both at home and abroad.
Challenges in a Crowded Market
The service is currently being made available to customers who joined a waitlist, with full public access anticipated in January 2026. However, industry analysts caution that success is not assured. Paolo Pescatore, a noted analyst, told Mirror Online that while combining banking and mobile services sounds compelling, execution will be critical. He highlighted the fiercely competitive Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) market, where customer loyalty cannot be taken for granted.
Despite the challenges, Revolut is confident. Hadi Nasrallah, General Manager of Telco at Revolut, stated the company aims to deliver a genuinely different alternative. "Revolut Mobile is more than just another mobile service," Nasrallah said. "Our mission is to deliver the best service at the best price, backed by an outstanding user experience. We're introducing real innovation through features like multiple numbers and global messaging, while eliminating hidden fees and unnecessary complexity."
This move marks an ambitious expansion for the fintech company, potentially reshaping cost expectations for millions of UK mobile consumers.
