Magnus the walrus has become somewhat of a celebrity as he makes a splash around the coast of Scotland. On Thursday, he decided to join a group of pupils from the King's former boarding school for a sailing lesson.

Surprise Appearance at Hopeman

The youngsters from Gordonstoun School were on the water at Hopeman, Moray, when the 8ft long creature made a surprise appearance. Hopeman Harbour in Moray was Magnus the walrus' latest stop in his tour of the Highlands. Gordonstoun School pupils were delighted to be joined by the marine mammal during their sailing lesson.

A social media post captioned 'celebrity spotted at sailing lesson' shows images of the gentle giant swimming alongside some of the pupils on their boats. The school wrote: 'Looks like Magnus the Walrus needed some sailing lessons, so he decided to sneak into Mr Collett's session with our Year 4s this afternoon.'
