Shoppers are rushing to try a new limited edition flavour of Walkers' famous Wotsits snacks, which have already been spotted at Sainsbury's. Fans say the new variant tastes like 'a holiday in your mouth'.
New Wotsits Golden Balls
Walkers has unveiled a brand new addition to their iconic snack range, and customers are clamouring to try the product after declaring it tastes like 'a holiday in your mouth'. Most people will already have their go-to Walkers snack flavour, whether it is traditional crisp varieties like Cheese and Onion or Salt and Vinegar, or their more distinctive offerings, like Quavers or Monster Munch.
However, that does not mean fresh flavour innovations are not tempting. The brand recently introduced Hot Honey flavour crisps to complement the classic selection, which includes Salt and Vinegar and Roast Chicken.
And the snack maker is taking things even further with a new version of another much-loved snack. Wotsits enthusiasts will be delighted to discover that the snack specialists have unveiled a brand new variant that has been found in Sainsbury's supermarkets.
While Wotsits were initially introduced by Golden Wonder in 1971, they joined Walkers in 2002. The snack is chiefly recognised for its cheese variety, though additional flavours have emerged over the years, including flaming hot, prawn cocktail, and crispy bacon.
Posting on Instagram, popular account 'NewFoodsUK' has revealed images of the brand new snack variant, which sees the classic Wotsits reimagined into a new form. 'New Wotsits Golden Balls crisps spotted at Sainsburys!' the caption of the post read.
The images then revealed the limited edition snack packets, which describe them as baked Wotsits golden balls in a smoked cheese flavour variety. The packaging also states it is a limited edition for the Fifa World Cup 2026.
Commenters were quick to share their reactions to the post, with one person immediately drawing comparisons to a popular holiday favourite. 'Basically Cheetos, holiday in the mouth!' one viewer claimed. Another added: 'This is actually a beautiful creation!' However, one person claimed: 'Can't beat the flaming hot tho.'
This marks just one of several new releases from Walkers this year, with some shoppers expressing divided opinions when the crisp giant unveiled two further limited edition flavours over the Easter period that had been axed years earlier. Customers discovered the Chilli and Cocoa Sensations, together with the Slow-Roasted Lamb and Mini Sauce flavoured crisps in stores, though many were reluctant to purchase them. The slow-roasted lamb variety originally went on sale during the 1990s, before being scrapped just ahead of the new millennium. The chilli and cocoa option, meanwhile, first appeared in 2009 as part of Walkers' 'Do Us A Flavour' campaign, but was later discontinued from shelves as well.
