Maitland Ward, best known for her role on the hit sitcom Boy Meets World, has opened up about her earnings on the show compared to her current income on OnlyFans, revealing a striking disparity. The former Disney Channel star, now 49, played Rachel McGuire on the series from 1998 to 2000, appearing as a new roommate for characters Jack Hunter and Eric Matthews.
Salary Comparison: Then and Now
During a recent episode of Hollywood Demons, which aired Monday on Investigation Discovery, Ward recalled her compensation on Boy Meets World. “I think I made $20,000 or $25,000 an episode,” she stated, according to US Weekly. Despite the show's popularity, Ward admitted to a constant fear of being fired throughout her two-year tenure on the series.
“You don’t have all the guarantees out there,” she explained. “In porn or OnlyFans, I can get six figures a month. There is also my adult film sales and I am creating this brand. I can make it go for as long as I want it to go.”
Transition to Adult Entertainment
After Boy Meets World, Ward appeared in the 2004 comedy White Chicks and the 2005 sitcom Out of Practice. However, she eventually chose a different career path, entering the adult film industry in 2019. In a recent interview with Fox News, Ward reflected on her Hollywood experience.
“Back then, I think they looked at these young actors as like property coming in,” she said. “And I really believe the studios, they wanted to mold and form these young actors into what they wanted them to be, what they needed them to be for the company and for the audience, to what they felt would identify with.”
She described the environment as a “factory kind of environment. You were just a product being sold, and you knew that yourself. I didn't think anything was wrong at the time with anything that was going on really. I mean it felt ill at ease in my own body and all my feelings and stuff. But I thought that was just me being stupid. I have to be professional. I have to be part of that Hollywood machine.”
Respect and Positivity in New Career
Ward has previously argued that she has been treated with more respect from her peers after joining OnlyFans. “I'm pitching my memoir into a TV format and talking with people,” she told Fox News Digital last year, referring to her 2022 book, Rated X: How Porn Liberated Me from Hollywood. “They're so respectful, and they're so positive about my story, especially younger people and different people that I speak to in Hollywood and stuff. They're just much more receptive to the story. And I really feel like I have a lot of positivity around it.”
