Shoppers across the UK are being urged to take note of altered supermarket schedules as the festive period approaches. Morrisons has officially confirmed its revised opening hours for Christmas 2025, affecting both its large supermarkets and smaller convenience stores.
Revised Festive Opening Hours for Shoppers
The supermarket giant has adjusted its trading times for the key dates around Christmas Day. For its larger supermarkets, Christmas Eve will see doors open from 6am until 6pm, meaning an earlier closure than on a typical day. These major stores will then remain closed entirely on Christmas Day.
On Boxing Day, the bigger Morrisons outlets are scheduled to welcome customers from 9am until 6pm. The retailer strongly advises using the official store finder and opening times tool on its website to confirm the exact hours for a specific location, as there can be local variations.
Morrisons Daily Convenience Store Times
Opening arrangements for Morrisons Daily convenience stores differ more widely based on their individual location. While many will open at 6am on Christmas Eve, closing times could be as early as 6pm or as late as 10pm. All the Morrisons Daily stores checked online are set to be closed on Christmas Day.
For Boxing Day, most of these smaller stores plan to open from 7am, with closing times again split between 6pm and 10pm. Checking online remains the most reliable method to avoid a wasted trip.
Festive Freebies and Massive Vegetable Price Cuts
Alongside the schedule changes, Morrisons is launching several festive promotions. In a bid to spread some Christmas magic, the chain is giving away over 27 tonnes of carrots from its 'Naturally Wonky' range for children to leave out for Rudolph. The free carrots are available in stores until Christmas Eve, while stocks last.
Chris Smith, Root Veg Senior Trader at Morrisons, said: “Christmas is all about spreading joy and cheer, so we’re delighted to offer our younger customers a free wonky carrot to leave out for Rudolph and his friends on Christmas Eve. Our Naturally Wonky range supports British farmers, reduces waste and gives customers a great-value option that still tastes fantastic.”
In a significant move to help with the cost of the Christmas dinner, Morrisons is also part of a major supermarket initiative slashing the price of key vegetables to just 5p for More card customers. The dramatic price cuts apply to the following items:
- Carrots (1kg) - 5p
- Parsnips (500g) - 5p
- Brussel Sprouts (500g) - 5p
- Whole Swede - 5p
This offer places Morrisons alongside other leading UK supermarkets in providing substantial savings on seasonal produce during the expensive festive period.
