Morrisons has unveiled a significant temporary enhancement to its customer rewards programme, specifically targeting its extensive network of local convenience shops. For a limited period of two weeks, the supermarket giant is implementing a major change that will directly benefit regular shoppers at its Morrisons Daily outlets.
Double Points Initiative Across Convenience Stores
The retailer has activated a Double Points offer throughout its convenience store estate, which comprises more than 1,700 Morrisons Daily locations across the United Kingdom and the Channel Islands. This strategic move represents a substantial boost to the existing More Card loyalty scheme, which typically awards five points for nearly every product purchased.
Under this new fortnight-long promotion, customers will receive 10 More Points per item instead of the standard five, effectively doubling the rate at which they can accumulate rewards. This enhancement applies to all products available in-store, from snacks and lunch items to household essentials and daily groceries.
Accelerated Rewards for Everyday Purchases
The temporary scheme is designed to help shoppers build up their points balance more rapidly, particularly on those smaller, frequent purchases that characterise convenience store shopping. Once customers accumulate sufficient points through the More Card programme, these convert into £5 vouchers that can be redeemed against future purchases.
Gareth Lloyd, Morrisons' loyalty director, explained the thinking behind the promotion: "From quick top-ups on the way home to everyday essentials like milk or a loaf of bread, Morrisons Daily is designed for those convenient, everyday moments. The Morrisons More Card rewards customers even when they're not doing a full weekly shop, and with double points on offer, even those smaller local purchases will help to top-up your points, giving shoppers even more value every time they visit us."
Promotional Details and Exclusions
The Double Points promotion commenced recently and is scheduled to continue until February 8, providing customers with a full fortnight to take advantage of the enhanced rewards. It's important to note that the offer applies specifically to Morrisons Daily branches and excludes locations operated by the Motor Fuel Group.
This development follows Morrisons' recent decision to discontinue another long-standing loyalty initiative. The supermarket confirmed it would end its Christmas Savers Stamp scheme after 14 years of operation, with the programme closing on December 31, 2025. That scheme had allowed More Card members to purchase digital stamps worth £1 throughout the year, with the retailer adding bonus stamps based on amounts saved, ultimately converting them into vouchers redeemable during the November-December period.
Regarding that closure, Morrisons stated: "After careful consideration, we'll be ending our Christmas Saver Stamp scheme from the 31st December 2025. This change allows us to focus more on improving your personalised offers and enhancing the overall More Card experience."
The current Double Points promotion represents part of this renewed focus on the core More Card programme, offering immediate value to convenience store shoppers while the retailer continues to develop personalised offers for loyal customers.
