Tragic Triple Stabbing in Croydon Claims Life, Leaves Another Critical

In a shocking incident in south London, a man has died and two others were taken to hospital following a triple stabbing in the early hours of Sunday morning. Emergency services were called to Hesterman Way in Croydon at approximately 1.15am on Sunday after receiving urgent reports of individuals suffering from knife wounds.

Emergency Response and Casualties

Metropolitan Police officers and the London Ambulance Service swiftly attended the scene, where they discovered three men who had been stabbed. A 22-year-old man was rushed to hospital, but despite the best efforts of paramedics, he was pronounced dead after they were unable to save him. Two other men, both aged 21, were also transported to hospital. One of these men sustained injuries that are believed to be life-threatening, placing him in a critical condition, while the other has since been taken into police custody.

Arrests and Police Investigation

In connection with this violent incident, police have made several arrests. The two 21-year-old men who were hospitalised have been arrested on suspicion of affray. Additionally, on the afternoon of Sunday, 15 February, two women, both aged 25, and a 28-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in police custody. Later, two further women, aged 21 and 22, were arrested on suspicion of affray. The 21-year-old woman has been bailed as enquiries continue, while the 22-year-old woman remains in police custody.

A crime scene remains in place at Hesterman Way, with officers actively continuing their investigations to piece together the events that led to this tragedy. Detective Chief Inspector Alex Gammampila expressed his condolences, stating, 'Our thoughts remain with the victim's family at this hugely difficult time, we cannot begin to imagine what they are going through.' He added, 'We understand that this incident will be distressing to the local community. My officers continue to work at pace to unpick the events that unfolded and to apprehend those responsible.'
