Norwegian Aura: NCL's Largest Cruise Ship with 5 Waterslides & Infinity Pool
Norwegian Aura: NCL's Largest Cruise Ship Revealed

Norwegian Cruise Line has unveiled its largest vessel to date, the Norwegian Aura, setting a new benchmark for family adventure and luxury at sea. The ship, currently under construction in Italy, is scheduled to launch in 2027 and promises an unprecedented array of features, including five waterslides and a stunning infinity pool.

A New Flagship of Adventure

As the newest and largest Prima Plus class ship, Norwegian Aura will measure almost 1,130 feet long and weigh 168,000 gross tons. It will accommodate up to 3,840 guests at double occupancy, making it 10 per cent larger than its sister ships, Norwegian Aqua and Norwegian Luna. The vessel will homeport in Miami for its inaugural season in June 2027, following a maiden voyage from Trieste to Barcelona in May of the same year.

The centrepiece of the new ship is the Ocean Heights adventure zone, a first for the fleet spanning four decks. This area will host the most waterslides on any NCL ship, with five thrilling options. Highlights include the Eclipse Racers, the line's first duelling mat racer slides stretching over 400 feet, and the Aura Free Fall drop-slide. For those preferring dry land, an 82-foot high ropes course and a 25-foot rock climbing wall will provide ample challenge.

Enhanced Spaces and Luxury Amenities

Signature areas have been significantly expanded aboard Norwegian Aura. The popular Ocean Boulevard outdoor promenade will be 11 per cent larger, offering more space for sunbathing, new hot tubs, and a dedicated bar. The pool deck itself will be over 20 per cent bigger than on previous ships, becoming the largest in the fleet, with an added infinity hot tub and a larger entertainment screen.

For guests seeking exclusivity, the adults-only Vibe Beach Club will be 15 per cent more spacious. The ship's luxury enclave, The Haven by Norwegian, will see the most dramatic increase, offering 30 per cent more suites than any other ship in the fleet. Designed by Italian designer Piero Lissoni, The Haven will feature a private sundeck with a panoramic infinity pool, hot tubs, and an outdoor sauna.

Artistic Design and Inaugural Season

True to NCL's tradition, Norwegian Aura will boast distinctive hull art. Artist Rosie Woods has created the design, drawing inspiration from celestial light and bioluminescent seas to depict the interaction of light and water.

Harry Sommer, president and CEO of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, stated: "Norwegian Aura represents the evolution of Norwegian Cruise Line and the celebration of bringing together families, friends and travellers from around the world. With brilliance and connection at her core, the ship was created to give all guests the freedom to vacation their very own way."

Following its seven-day Mediterranean voyage commencing 21 May 2027, Norwegian Aura will begin its inaugural season from Miami in June 2027, offering Caribbean itineraries and marking a new era of scale and innovation for the cruise line.
