Barron Trump Alerted UK Police During Video Call Attack on Friend, Court Hears
Barron Trump Called UK Police During Friend's Attack on Video

Barron Trump, the youngest son of former US President Donald Trump, reportedly contacted British police from the United States after witnessing what he believed to be an assault on a close friend during a video call, according to testimony presented at Snaresbrook Crown Court.

Transatlantic Emergency Call

The court heard that the 19-year-old made an emergency call to the City of London Police on January 18 after seeing the alleged victim, a woman based in London, being attacked during their video conversation. According to released transcripts, Trump told the police operator: "Oh I'm calling from the US, uh I just got a call from a girl, you know, she's getting beat up."

He reportedly added: "This was happening about eight minutes ago. I just figured out how to, how to call someone. Uh, uh it's really an emergency."

Police Interaction Details

During the call, Trump explained he had met the alleged victim through social media platforms. When questioned by the police operator about how he obtained his information, the transcript indicates Trump responded: "I don't think these details matter, she's getting hurt."

The operator reportedly replied: "Can you stop being rude and actually answer my questions. If you want to help the person, you'll answer my questions clearly and precisely, thank you."

Subsequent Police Correspondence

The court further heard that Trump later corresponded with London police investigators via email. In a message dated May 2, he described the incident as "very brief indeed but indeed prevalent," according to testimony presented to jurors.

Trump wrote in his email: "I didn't expect her to pick up due to the time difference. The phone was picked up. The individual who answered was a shirtless man with darkish hair. This view lasted maybe one second... then the view flipped to the victim."

Friendship and Evidence

In his statement to the Metropolitan Police, Trump described himself as "very close" to the alleged victim. His email continued: "I made two of my friends call the Met Police in the UK, even though they are in the US. As per evidence, I do not have any. I was told by the victim who I am very close with that this individual was giving her difficulty for a long time."

Jurors heard that police investigators sent follow-up emails to Trump on July 1 but did not receive responses to their subsequent communications.

Legal Proceedings

Matvei Rumiantsev, a 22-year-old defendant, is currently on trial facing multiple charges including assault, two counts of rape, intentional strangulation, and perverting the course of justice. The allegations involve the same woman whom Trump described as a close friend during his communications with British authorities.

Rumiantsev, who appeared in the dock wearing a blue suit and white shirt, has denied all charges against him. The trial continues at Snaresbrook Crown Court with further proceedings expected in the coming days.
