Bootle Strand Shopping Centre Axe Attack: Major Police Investigation Launched

Emergency services rushed to Bootle Strand shopping centre in Liverpool this evening following a horrific violent attack that left a man with serious injuries to his head and face. Witnesses described scenes of "blood everywhere" after the victim was reportedly struck with an axe.

Police Cordon and Ongoing Investigation

A substantial police cordon remains in place at the shopping centre on Stanley Road in Merseyside, with officers closing off large sections of the complex. Multiple shops and restaurants are contained within the cordoned area as forensic teams conduct their examination.

Merseyside Police confirmed they were called to Stanley Road at approximately 5.45pm on Thursday 22 January following reports of an assault. The victim sustained lacerations to his head and face from what police described as a "bladed weapon" and has been transported to hospital for medical assessment and treatment.

Detective's Appeal for Information

Detective Inspector Sara Lang stated: "These are the early stages of our investigation and it is paramount that we speak to anyone who saw or has since heard anything about this assault as we look to establish the circumstances and find those responsible."

The detective inspector added that a significant cordon would remain in place near the bingo hall on Stanley Road, believed to be the location where the assault occurred. Police have urged members of the public to avoid the area where possible while investigative work continues.
