Fatal Shooting in Eungella, NSW Leaves One Dead

A man has been killed and two others have suffered serious injuries following a violent incident in northern New South Wales that involved both a shooting and a suspected hit-and-run.

Chronology of a Violent Afternoon

Emergency services rushed to Tyalgum Road in Eungella, approximately 10 kilometres west of Murwillumbah, shortly after 1:25 pm on Wednesday. Officers from the Tweed/Byron Police District were informed that two men, aged 41 and 38, had allegedly been shot by another man at a regional property.

The alleged shooter then fled the scene with a fourth man. Paramedics from NSW Ambulance treated the 41-year-old man for a gunshot wound, but he tragically died at the property. Police have stated he is yet to be formally identified.

Second Incident and Hospitalisations

In a related development, police were alerted to a second incident on the same road. A 45-year-old man was allegedly struck by a car. He was taken to hospital for treatment and remains under police guard.

The 38-year-old man who was initially shot later sought medical treatment at a hospital for his gunshot wound. Police are waiting to speak with both injured men to establish the precise circumstances of how they were hurt.

Ongoing Police Investigation

Authorities are actively working to locate a fourth person, believed to be aged 37, who they think can assist with their inquiries into the disturbing chain of events.
