Gabby Logan's Daughter Lois Admits Fear of London Crime and Crowds
Gabby Logan's Daughter Fears London Crime and Crowds

Gabby Logan has acknowledged that “things aren’t great” after her daughter Lois confessed to feeling “scared” when in London. The BBC Sport presenter and her husband Kenny raised twins Lois and Reuben in their Edwardian home in Buckinghamshire.

Lois Opens Up on Podcast

Kenny and Lois recently appeared on Gabby’s Mid-point podcast, which she jokingly says broadcasts from “deepest darkest London”. The 53-year-old revealed she usually records at their home when speaking to family on the show. She described it as a “big deal” for 20-year-old Lois to travel into the capital.

Lois responded: “I actually, today, quite like London because it’s quite vibrant here in Soho.” However, she admitted she “doesn’t particularly love” the city and finds the number of people can be “overwhelming”.

Christmas Crowds and Crime Fears

Gabby recalled a moment at Christmas when they were walking through the city. “We were walking down from the tube from Regent Street and Lois was like, ‘Oh god, I hate this!’” Lois explained: “I’m sure there’s lots of people who can understand the feeling. It’s like people stepping on my toes… I can appreciate London, today’s nice, Soho’s lovely, but when it’s Christmas time, there’s a lot. Also, I’m kind of scared someone is going to mug my phone or my handbag now. My arm is clamped under my shoulder.”

Crime Statistics and Anecdotes

Gabby noted that crime rates in London have been decreasing. According to Crimerate, the city’s crime risk has declined over the past decade. In January, the Metropolitan Police reported that the homicide rate had hit an 11-year low. However, in 2024, the force stated that around 150 mobile phones were stolen each day across the city.

Responding to Lois, Gabby said: “We all know people who have had their phones nicked, so anecdotally, things aren’t great, but you are definitely, if I had to put you into a group, someone who loves nature and the countryside.”

A Countryside Soul

Lois agreed, saying she would be “very happy” if left “alone in a field with a horse or a cow”. Her father Kenny quipped: “As long as the grass is good.” Lois explained that there are two sides to her personality: one that enjoys solitude and another that likes socialising. “When I am out with my friends and doing things, I generally enjoy it and I do tend to have a good time. But there’s also that devil on my shoulder being like, ‘Stay at home. Read a book. Go to bed at eight o’clock with some sleepy tea’. I’m 20, it’s a bit embarrassing really, but I do go out.” The university student added that she does enjoy going to pubs.
