Newly released images have provided a stark and disturbing glimpse into the secret hideout where cop-killer fugitive Dezi Freeman spent his final days before meeting a violent end. The footage, captured by a popular YouTuber, reveals the squalid and filthy conditions inside a remote shipping container at a property in Thologolong, Victoria's northeast.
The Fugitive's Last Refuge
Dezi Freeman spent an astonishing 216 days on the run after fatally shooting two police officers during a raid at his Porepunkah property. His flight ended on March 30 when he was shot dead in a hail of bullets following a tense three-hour standoff with police at the Thologolong location. The newly emerged video, posted by The Chaos Chronicles, has attracted over 66,000 views within just five days, drawing public attention to the fugitive's clandestine lifestyle.
Inside the Squalid Container
The YouTuber claimed he visited the property to retrieve a crashed drone, but instead documented the grim interior where Freeman likely lived. Freeman's personal belongings were still strewn about, including racks of clothing, an elaborate battery setup, an Esky cooler, old carpet remnants, and boxes filled with empty wine bottles. A small table held several bottles of vitamins and supplements, a container of methylated spirits, and a box of tissues, hinting at a makeshift existence.
A tiny single bed was surrounded by piles of rubbish, with a portable radio nearby, painting a picture of isolation and decay. The filth and disarray were palpable, with a strong stench of chemicals described by the videographer as he filmed inside the confined space. This secret hideaway, located 188 kilometres northeast of Porepunkah, served as Freeman's refuge for an unknown period during his seven-month evasion of law enforcement.
Evidence of a Violent End
Outside the shipping container, remnants of Freeman's camp remained untouched, including an abandoned pair of sunglasses on a chair. An upended tin boat nearby was peppered with bullet holes from the intense standoff with police, while the damaged walls of the container itself also bore the marks of gunfire. Freeman was shot 27 times during the siege, a fact that led a police source to grimly remark, "He looked like Swiss cheese."

Victoria Police are now investigating a report of trespass at the Thologolong property last week, linked to the video's creation. A spokesperson confirmed, "Investigators are aware of a video posted online in relation to the trespass and are investigating the circumstances."
