Jury Deliberates Fate of Alexander Brothers in High-Profile Sex Trafficking Case

A jury in Manhattan federal court began deliberations on Thursday in the sex trafficking trial of three brothers, including two high-end real estate brokers known as "The A Team." The case centers on allegations from 11 women who testified that the men used drugs and violence to rape numerous victims over more than a decade. The defendants—twins Oren and Alon Alexander, aged 38, and their 39-year-old brother Tal—face potential life imprisonment if convicted.

Defense Argues Playboy Lifestyle, Not Criminal Conduct

In closing arguments spanning Tuesday and Wednesday, defense lawyers urged jurors to scrutinize the evidence carefully and disregard the emotional impact of the women's testimonies. Marc Agnifilo, representing Oren Alexander, acknowledged the brothers' womanizing behavior but denied any criminal acts. "They're not drugging them, they're not raping them, but they're certainly pursuing them," Agnifilo stated, suggesting the trial stemmed from hurt feelings rather than illegal activities.

Deanna Paul, lawyer for Tal Alexander, criticized the prosecution's evidence as insufficient, comparing it to building a house without bricks. Both defense attorneys attacked attempts to link the brothers to a blog that prosecutors claimed promoted drugging and raping women, arguing there was no proof the Alexanders wrote or knew about the content.

Prosecution Counters with "Avalanche of Evidence"

Assistant U.S. Attorney Elizabeth Espinosa delivered a rebuttal on Thursday, dismissing defense arguments as "all nonsense." She emphasized that the blog was found on a hard drive in Tal Alexander's apartment and reflected the brothers' justifications for rape over years. Espinosa highlighted testimony from 11 women as an "avalanche of evidence" and urged guilty verdicts, stating, "This is not a close case."

New Lawsuit Emerges Amid Deliberations

Also on Thursday, Tracy Tutor, a star of "Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles," filed a lawsuit alleging Oren Alexander drugged and assaulted her in a restaurant bathroom over a decade ago. Jason Goldman, representing Alexander in civil matters, called the suit "salacious and demonstrably false," accusing Tutor of timing it for media attention. This development adds to the legal challenges facing the brothers as the jury deliberates.

The trial has drawn significant attention due to the defendants' prominence in real estate and the serious nature of the charges. The jury of six men and six women now holds the brothers' futures in their hands, with deliberations ongoing in a case that could set a precedent for similar prosecutions.
