A major station has been evacuated after smoke was seen pouring out of a control room. Liverpool Central was evacuated and closed following the incident, and other underground stations on the Merseyrail loop had their power cut as a precaution. All Merseyrail services are facing disruption as Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service respond to the incident.
Ticket acceptance is now in place on Stagecoach and Arriva buses across the region. Queues are building outside Moorfields.
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service Statement
