Chilling video footage has captured a horrific machete attack on an elderly man in Glasgow, with police urgently searching for the suspect. The incident occurred in broad daylight on Auckland Wynd around midday on Tuesday, 28 April 2026.
Attack Details
The 77-year-old victim had reportedly been stabbed inside a black Mercedes car moments before the machete assault. He exited the vehicle in an attempt to prevent the attacker from accessing the boot. The footage shows the thug, dressed in black, pushing the victim away while wielding the large blade before opening the boot. The attacker then proceeds to hack at the man as he tries to seize bin bags from the car. The victim attempts to dodge the blows as the knifeman grabs one of the bags and throws it to the ground.
Emergency Response
Emergency services, including armed police and a dog unit, rushed to the scene shortly after 12:10 pm following reports of a serious assault. The victim was transported to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A Police Scotland spokesperson stated: 'Around 12.10pm on Tuesday, 28 April, 2026, we received a report of a serious assault within a vehicle on Auckland Wynd in Glasgow. Emergency services attended and a 77-year-old man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Officers remain in the area and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.'
The Scottish Ambulance Service confirmed that an ambulance, two special operations response teams, a paramedic response car, and a critical care team were dispatched. The Mercedes involved has been taken by police for forensic examination. The attacker remains at large, and authorities are appealing for any witnesses or information to come forward.
