A tragic incident in Bristol has resulted in the death of a 61-year-old painter and decorator, Paul John Lumber, who fell from a ladder while erecting a Union flag. The accident occurred on the evening of 22 November last year, near his home on Duckmoor Road, where he was attempting to tie the flag to a lamppost.

Neighbours discovered Mr Lumber on the ground with a severe head injury after hearing a loud bang. Emergency services were promptly called, and paramedics attended the scene. Despite undergoing surgery for extensive head injuries, Mr Lumber sadly passed away on 6 December.
