ICE Shooting in Minneapolis: Governor Walz Demands Federal Withdrawal After Man Shot Multiple Times

Federal law enforcement officers have been involved in yet another shooting incident in Minneapolis, Minnesota, prompting an angry response from state governor Tim Walz who has demanded the immediate withdrawal of federal agents from the state.

Footage Shows Struggle Before Gunshots

City officials confirmed they were aware of reports of a shooting involving federal law enforcement in the area of 26th Street West and Nicollet Avenue on Saturday morning. Footage circulating online appears to show multiple law enforcement officers struggling with a man on the ground before gunshots are heard.

The video, which The Independent has not been able to independently verify, shows officers wrestling with the individual before a single gunshot is heard, followed by several more. The man then falls still. According to reports from The Minnesota Star-Tribune, the man was shot in the chest and was subsequently transported to hospital for treatment.

Governor Walz's Furious Response

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz confirmed the shooting on social media platform X, describing the incident as "sickening" and revealing he had spoken directly with the White House about the matter.

"Minnesota has had it. This is sickening," Walz wrote. "The President must end this operation. Pull the thousands of violent, untrained officers out of Minnesota. Now."

The governor's strongly worded statement reflects growing tension between state authorities and federal immigration enforcement operations in Minnesota.

Pattern of Federal Agent Involvement

This latest incident comes just over two weeks after 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good was fatally shot by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent during an altercation. Days later, a Venezuelan man was also shot in the leg while attempting to escape immigration officials.

The repeated involvement of federal agents in shooting incidents has created significant concern among Minneapolis residents and officials about the conduct and oversight of these operations.

Official Response and Public Advisory

City officials have asked the public to remain calm and avoid the immediate area around 26th Street West and Nicollet Avenue while investigations continue. Authorities are working to confirm additional details about the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

The incident has reignited debates about federal law enforcement presence in American cities and the appropriate use of force during immigration enforcement operations. As details continue to emerge, community leaders are calling for greater transparency and accountability regarding federal agent activities in Minneapolis.
