An investigation is underway after a mother and her young son died following a water incident at a park in west London. The tragedy occurred at Elthorne Park in Ealing, where emergency services were called just before 4:30pm on Saturday.
Both individuals were recovered from the water by first responders, but despite efforts to save them, they were pronounced dead at the scene. The Metropolitan Police have confirmed that initial indications suggest their deaths are not being treated as suspicious.
Detective Superintendent Pete Thackray extended his condolences to the family and praised the swift actions of first responders and members of the public who attempted to help. A full investigation is now underway to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
