Murder Charges Laid One Year After Stabbing Death in Goulburn Home
Murder Charges After Year-Long Stabbing Death Investigation

A man and woman have been formally charged with murder, exactly one year after their alleged victim was discovered deceased with multiple stab wounds in a residential property. The 48-year-old female victim's body was found at a home in Goulburn, located in the New South Wales Southern Tablelands region, approximately 200 kilometres south-west of Sydney. The grim discovery occurred on January 3, 2025, after police officers responded to a welfare concern report.

Police Forced Entry to Discover Scene

Upon receiving the welfare report, officers were compelled to force entry into the Goulburn property. Inside, they discovered the woman deceased, having sustained multiple stab wounds. The investigation immediately classified the death as suspicious and launched a comprehensive homicide inquiry.

Arrests Made Following Year-Long Investigation

After a meticulous twelve-month investigation, police took decisive action on Thursday. A 40-year-old woman and a 44-year-old man were arrested and charged with murder. Police will allege in court that the victim was known to her alleged attackers, having previously been in a domestic relationship with the 40-year-old female suspect.

Officers executed a search warrant at a Goulburn address around 8:30 am on Thursday morning. The 40-year-old woman was arrested at the scene and subsequently transported to the Southern Highlands Police Station for processing.

Dramatic Arrest of Male Suspect

The arrest of the 44-year-old man was particularly dramatic. He was escorted from the property wearing only his underwear and with a cast on his arm. He was then taken to Goulburn Police Station for questioning and formal charging.

Charges and Court Proceedings

Both individuals have been charged with domestic violence-related murder. Following their arrests, bail was formally refused for both accused parties. They are scheduled to appear in court on Friday to face the serious charges.

The case highlights the persistent efforts of NSW police in pursuing homicide investigations, even when a significant period has elapsed since the crime. The domestic violence aspect of the charges underscores the tragic context of the alleged offence, where the victim was reportedly known to the accused.
