The victim has been formally identified as 41-year-old Joanne Newlands, whose family have been notified and are receiving support from specialist officers during this distressing time.

Emergency services were urgently dispatched to a property on Kirkton Avenue in Knightswood after receiving a report expressing concern for Ms Newlands' welfare. Despite the immediate efforts of ambulance crews at the scene, she was pronounced dead. Following a post-mortem examination, authorities are treating her death as suspicious, prompting an extensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding this incident.

Arrest and Community Impact

In connection with the death, police arrested a 49-year-old man on Wednesday. He has since been released pending further investigation, with enquiries ongoing. Detective Chief Inspector Gordon MacKenzie expressed condolences, stating: "Our thoughts are with Joanne's family and friends at this time. We are providing them with support as our investigation continues."
