Neighbour's Desperate Attempt to Save Stabbed Teenager Ends in Tragedy

A neighbour in Leeds has recounted his heartbreaking efforts to save a 16-year-old girl who was stabbed in the back, reportedly in a dispute over a boy. Chloe Watson was found unconscious on Kennerleigh Avenue in Austhorpe, Leeds, at 5.55am on Saturday, March 28, and later pronounced dead in hospital.

Neighbour's Heroic CPR Efforts on the Pavement

Wayne Mallows, a 64-year-old resident, described how he was alerted by a dog walker and rushed to assist another neighbour who was performing CPR on the "lifeless" teenager. Mr Mallows took over the resuscitation attempts until paramedics arrived approximately ten minutes later.

"I took over until the ambulance arrived 10 minutes later. She had been stabbed in the back and there was quite a bit of blood. Her eyes were just blank," Mr Mallows told the Daily Mail.

He recalled that the road is typically quiet and populated by retirees, making the violent incident particularly shocking. The neighbour remembered the girl's face vividly, noting she appeared younger than her 16 years.

Police Launch Murder Investigation with Four Arrests

West Yorkshire Police have confirmed they are treating Chloe's death as murder. Four individuals have been arrested in connection with the case: two 18-year-old women, a 20-year-old man, and a 17-year-old boy. All remain in police custody as investigations continue.

Detective Chief Superintendent Marc Bowes stated: "Following our appeal for further information yesterday, we have now identified the deceased as a 16-year-old girl from the Cleckheaton area. Her family have been informed and we are supporting them as they try to come to terms with what has happened."

Family's Heartbreak and Community Response

Chloe's family has been left devastated by the tragedy. Relative Shantelle Watson expressed the family's grief on a GoFundMe page established to support them.

"My 16-year-old cousin’s life was sadly taken in tragedy. 16 years young. She didn’t even make it to her 18th – her whole life was taken in a flash over a boy. Her mum is distraught; she has left two younger siblings behind," Shantelle wrote.

Police have appealed for anyone with information about the incident to come forward, particularly those who were in the Kennerleigh Avenue area during the early hours of March 28.
