Netflix is set to release an intense new spy thriller titled Legends, featuring an all-star British cast. The series, created by Neil Forsyth, known for BBC's The Gold, is based on an incredible true story.
Release Date
Legends will premiere on Netflix on Thursday, May 7, with all six episodes available for binge-watching at once. In the UK, the series will be accessible from 8:01 AM British Summer Time.
Plot
The six-part series recounts the little-known story of a group of customs officers who went undercover in the 1990s to infiltrate Britain's largest and most dangerous drug networks. With minimal training, these ordinary employees adopted 'legends'—secret identities—to spy on and get close to individuals smuggling heroin into the country.
Creator Neil Forsyth told Netflix's Tudum about his extensive research, including interviews with real-life legend Guy Stanton: "I immediately got a sense of the human journey that he and others had taken in this remarkable story." He added that many of these officers came from working-class backgrounds and were drawn to the opportunity despite the enormous danger.
Cast
The cast features Tom Burke (BBC's Strike, War and Peace) as Guy, Steve Coogan (Alan Partridge, Philomena), Hayley Squires (The Night Manager), Tom Hughes (ITV's Victoria, The Gold), Aml Ameen (The Porter), and Jasmine Blackborow (The Gentlemen) as Erin.
Additional cast members include Douglas Hodge as Blake, Johnny Harris as Eddie, Gerald Kyd as Mylonas, Numan Acar as Hakan, Charlotte Ritchie as Sophie, Joshua Samuels as Zeki, Kem Hassan as Aziz, and Thomas Coombes as Shaun.
Legends will be released on Netflix on Thursday, May 7.
