Inquest Exposes Police Failure in Tracking Key Suspect in Jessica Zrinski Case

An inquest into the disappearance and suspected death of Jessica Zrinski has revealed that police allowed the last known person to see her alive to slip under the radar, raising serious questions about the investigation's early stages. Jessica Zrinski, a 31-year-old woman, was last seen with her grandmother in Bossley Park, west Sydney, before vanishing on November 29, 2022, sparking a widespread search and a $500,000 reward for information.

CCTV Footage Shows Final Moments Before Disappearance

The inquest, held on Monday, presented crucial CCTV footage showing Ms Zrinski entering the car park of the Greenfield Tavern at approximately 10:02 pm on November 28, 2022. She was dressed in an orange crop top and black leggings, attire that would become a key identifier in later sightings. In the car park, she met Paul Jones, believed to be in his early 40s, for the first time. Mr Jones had been observed earlier in the pub's pokies area, though the pair had no prior acquaintance.

Ms Zrinski and Mr Jones were seen leaving the car park in his blue Holden Commodore, heading to a service station in Horsley Park where he purchased fuel, cigarettes, and two bottles of soft drink. This vehicle was later captured on camera at another service station on the Great Western Highway in Mount Victoria, shortly before 9 am the following day. A passenger wearing an orange top was visible in the front seat, marking the last confirmed sighting of Jessica Zrinski.

Vehicle Movements and Suspicious Activities

By 10:15 am on November 29, the blue Holden Commodore was seen travelling westbound on the Great Western Highway, but this time with no passenger onboard, intensifying concerns about Ms Zrinski's fate. Two days later, on December 1, Mr Jones took his car to a car wash, paying $90 for a polish and detail. Staff reported no blood or suspicious items in the vehicle, though this did little to alleviate fears.

The investigation took a troubling turn when it emerged that Mr Jones withdrew $9,000 shortly after Ms Zrinski went missing and subsequently disappeared from authorities' radar. He reportedly travelled to Bunbury, Western Australia, in late January 2023, with payphone records suggesting a possible move to Queensland. His current whereabouts remain unknown, and he is believed to be the individual NSW Police publicly sought help in locating in 2023.

Extensive Search Efforts and Ongoing Investigation

In May 2023, a three-day search of bushland was launched in the Hampton State Forest, located about 115 km west of Sydney in the NSW Central Tablelands. Detectives suspect Jessica may have entered or visited this state forest after getting into the Holden Commodore. Detective Superintendent Doherty previously emphasized that no stone would be left unturned in the search, urging anyone with information to come forward to provide answers to her family.

Jessica Zrinski is described as of Caucasian appearance, 165 cm tall, with a thin build and blonde hair. She has distinctive tattoos on her right index finger, left wrist, and the back of her neck. Authorities continue to appeal for information, urging the public to contact Crime Stoppers with any leads that could shed light on this distressing case.
