Rapist Jailed After Teen's Clever Pizza Order SOS Call to Police

A sexual predator has been sentenced to over 15 years in prison after raping a 15-year-old girl in his car, with the victim's quick-thinking emergency call disguised as a pizza order leading directly to his arrest and conviction.

Predatory Grooming and Violent Assault

Abdul Kahar, 41, initially contacted the vulnerable teenager through Snapchat while posing as a 17-year-old boy named 'Jay'. The married father-of-one groomed the girl online before arranging to meet her in Druid's Heath, Birmingham, under the pretence of "drinking and chilling" together.

Birmingham Crown Court heard disturbing details of how Kahar forced the 15-year-old to consume excessive amounts of vodka until she became physically ill on two separate occasions. Despite the victim's clear distress and repeated attempts to push him away, Kahar proceeded to sexually assault her in the front of his vehicle before moving her to the back seat.

The situation escalated dramatically when Kahar placed his hands around the teenager's throat and squeezed with sufficient force to restrict her breathing, according to prosecutor Francesca Perera. The court was told this violent act was intended to stop the victim from resisting his further advances.

Ingenious Emergency Call Disguised as Pizza Order

Following the prolonged assault, the quick-thinking teenager remembered a TikTok video she had seen where another sexual assault victim contacted emergency services by pretending to order pizza. While still seated in Kahar's vehicle, she dialled police and began speaking as if requesting a pizza delivery.

The alert call-handler immediately recognised the coded distress signal and began asking carefully phrased 'yes' or 'no' questions to establish the true nature of the emergency. When specifically asked if she was in danger, the victim responded "yeah" before providing her exact location to responding officers.

This clever ruse enabled police to locate and arrest Kahar promptly on June 28 last year, preventing further harm to the victim and securing crucial evidence for the subsequent prosecution.

Comprehensive Guilty Pleas and Substantial Sentence

Kahar ultimately pleaded guilty to multiple serious charges including:

  • Two counts of raping a female under 16
  • Four counts of sexually assaulting a female over 13
  • Non-fatal intentional strangulation
  • Breach of a sexual harm prevention order

On Monday, Judge Sarah Buckingham sentenced Kahar to 15 years and three months imprisonment, describing him as "a sexual predator with a deep seated sexual attraction to young and underage girls."

The judge emphasised that Kahar had deliberately targeted a particularly vulnerable victim who was living in a children's home under local authority care at the time of the attack. "You exploited her and plied her with alcohol," Judge Buckingham stated. "When she tried to resist you put your hands around her throat and forced her to stop resisting. You had utterly no regard for her well being."

Police Praise for Victim's Bravery

Detective Constable Lauren Campbell of West Midlands Police commended both the victim's courage and the call-handler's professionalism in responding to the disguised emergency call.

"I want to praise the brave actions of the girl and also praise the call handler for having the foresight to understand this was a call for help from someone who was vulnerable and in danger," DC Campbell stated following the sentencing.

The case has highlighted both the ongoing dangers of online grooming through social media platforms and the importance of public awareness regarding discreet methods of contacting emergency services when in immediate danger.
