UK Rapper DigDat Receives Life Sentence for Notting Hill Drive-By Shooting
Rapper DigDat Jailed for Life Over West London Shooting

UK rapper DigDat, whose real name is Nathan Tokosi, has been handed a life sentence for his involvement in a violent drive-by shooting in west London. The 26-year-old from Deptford must serve a minimum of 24 years in prison after being convicted of attempted murder and firearms offences.

Details of the Notting Hill Shooting

The incident occurred in Notting Hill in November 2023, where the victim, Daniel Offei-Ntow, known professionally as Lugavelz, was shot six times. The attack targeted his head, mouth, and body, leaving him with severe injuries. The court heard that the shooting was part of a premeditated and reckless act of violence between rival artists.

Legal Proceedings and Sentencing

Tokosi faced two trials last year, resulting in his conviction for attempted murder and firearms-related crimes. At the Old Bailey, Judge Sarah Munro KC sentenced him to life imprisonment, declaring him a dangerous offender due to his history of violent convictions.

Notably, Tokosi has a prior criminal record that includes an attempted murder conviction from when he was just 13 years old, for stabbing a victim. This background contributed to the judge's assessment of his dangerousness.

Police and Judicial Comments

Detective Inspector Chris Shepherd of the Metropolitan Police described Tokosi's actions as "premeditated, reckless and malicious," emphasising the severity of the crime. The sentencing reflects the court's stance on such violent offences, particularly those involving firearms in public spaces.

The case has drawn attention to issues of youth violence and gang-related activities in London, highlighting the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement in tackling such crimes.
