Southport Attack Survivor Launches Campaign for Safer Kitchen Knives
Yoga teacher Leanne Lucas, a survivor of the horrific Southport attack in July 2024, has taken decisive action to combat knife crime by establishing a Community Interest Company (CIC) and launching the innovative "Let's Be Blunt" campaign. This initiative advocates for the widespread adoption of round-ended kitchen knives, designed to prevent them from being used as lethal weapons in violent incidents.
Recalling the Tragic Southport Incident
The campaign was initiated in response to the devastating Southport attack, which tragically claimed the lives of three children and left several others injured. Ms Lucas herself was critically injured during the assault, suffering five stab wounds. Despite her injuries, she has shown remarkable resilience, focusing her efforts on preventing similar tragedies in the future.

Through her newly formed CIC, Ms Lucas is providing essential training to adults who work with children in the public sector.
