A violent shooting erupted on Saturday evening outside a Safeway supermarket in San Francisco, leaving five people wounded, one of them with life-threatening injuries. The incident, which occurred in the Outer Richmond neighbourhood, has prompted a major police investigation and drawn condemnation from the city's mayor.

Authorities confirmed that officers rushed to the scene around 9 p.m. on Saturday, 8th November 2025, following multiple reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they discovered several victims outside the popular grocery store. According to an official police statement, the casualties included one adult male who sustained serious, life-threatening injuries and four juveniles who were treated for wounds not considered life-threatening. All five individuals were transported swiftly to a nearby hospital for medical care.
Chaotic Scene and Ongoing Investigation
Police Captain Kevin Lee, speaking at the location, informed the San Francisco Chronicle that the shooting appeared to have stemmed from a physical fight. The sudden violence caused panic, with bystanders scrambling for safety. Tommy Corcoran, 19, described the terrifying moments to the Chronicle, revealing that he hid behind a log in the adjacent Golden Gate Park after hearing the gunshots and seeing people run away. As of Sunday, no arrests have been made, and investigators have not yet released any information regarding potential suspects.
In response to the attack, San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie issued a strong statement, saying, "This kind of violence does not represent who we are as a city, and we will never tolerate it." The city's detectives are now appealing to the public for assistance, urging any witnesses or individuals with information about the shooting to contact the San Francisco Police Department immediately.
