Ariana Grande Embarks on Major Tour with Renewed Mental Strength

Global superstar Ariana Grande is poised to undertake her most significant professional challenge to date as she prepares for her first concert tour in seven years. The acclaimed singer and actress, who has sold out ten dates at London's O2 Arena this August, has candidly discussed her journey from battling performance anxiety to embracing this new chapter with confidence.

Overcoming Past Struggles with Live Performance

Despite her immense fame, Ariana Grande has historically faced considerable difficulties with stage nerves. Having been in the public eye since her teenage years, she previously described how touring negatively impacted her mental wellbeing. However, after dedicating time to self-improvement and mental health strategies, her perspective has transformed dramatically.

The 7 Rings singer explains: "I used to find touring had a really negative impact on my mental health, but at the same time of course I miss performing for my fans. I think I now have the confidence to do things differently, to know what works for me, what doesn't and what boundaries I need to put in place."

She emphasizes that this upcoming tour feels fundamentally different, stating she is "a lot more mentally prepared" for the demands of live performance.

Healing from Trauma and Embracing Therapy

Ariana Grande's anxiety about performing, particularly in the United Kingdom, is deeply rooted in traumatic events. Following the 2017 terrorist attack at Manchester Arena that claimed 22 lives and injured over 1,000 people during her concert, the artist experienced severe post-traumatic stress disorder symptoms. She described feeling "inhuman" due to heightened security measures and acknowledged the persistent fear that altered her perception of public spaces.

She reflected: "You try not to give in to fear because obviously that's the whole point of being here – that was the point of finishing my tour. You want to not be afraid, because of course that's what [the terrorists] want. If you give them that, then they've won. But the truth is, it's scary. It's scary going anywhere. You look at places differently."

Nearly a decade later, the three-time Grammy winner and Oscar nominee credits therapy with her recovery and renewed confidence. She advocates strongly for mental health support: "Self-care is not a dirty phrase, it's something we should all be doing. Talking things through with a therapist has helped me so much. I don't think it's an exaggeration to say it has saved my life. I am such an advocate for therapy for all."

Excitement for UK Return and Personal Connections

Despite past trauma, Ariana Grande expresses genuine enthusiasm for her return to the United Kingdom. While filming the musical Wicked and its sequel at Sky Studios Elstree in Hertfordshire, she developed a strong affection for British culture and lifestyle. Residing in Hampstead, North London, she appreciated the normalcy of local life, enjoying roast dinners and feeling accepted by the community.

She recalls: "It was such a happy time for me. The locals were great – I really started to feel like one of them. They didn't treat me any differently, I got to visit the shops or a café and live a normal life."

Her upcoming Eternal Sunshine Tour marks her first concert series since 2019, and the additional shows added due to overwhelming demand have left her feeling "truly humbled." Currently dating her Wicked co-star Ethan Slater following her divorce from Dalton Gomez, Ariana also looks forward to reuniting with fellow cast member Cynthia Erivo, whom she describes as "like a sister."

She concludes with anticipation: "I love the UK, I love London, and I can't wait to have a great time with my fans over there." This tour represents not just a professional milestone but a personal triumph of resilience and growth for the celebrated artist.
