Cheryl revives iconic X Factor quote in viral Nivea Instagram ad
Cheryl brings back viral X Factor quote for Nivea ad

Cheryl has sent fans into a nostalgic frenzy by resurrecting one of her most famous X Factor quotes in a new social media campaign. The singer and former judge on the hit ITV show featured the iconic line in a playful Instagram advert for skincare giant Nivea, posted on Friday.

The Iconic Comeback of a Viral Soundbite

In the short, stylish clip, the 42-year-old star is seen in a luxurious kitchen, playfully spinning a teaspoon in a mug. Dressed in a chic blue turtleneck layered over a golden V-neck jumper with black jeans and her hair in a low bun, Cheryl mouthed the words along to the original audio recording.

The phrase that sent the internet wild was: "So no, you're not gonna be everyone's cup of tea; you're my cup of tea with two sugars in it." This heartfelt comment was originally delivered over a decade ago, in 2010, to her then-mentee Cher Lloyd following a performance of 'Walk This Way' by Run-D.M.C. on the talent show.

From TV Moment to Global Internet Meme

Over the years, the soundbite transcended its television origins to become a bona fide viral sensation. It has been used countless times by fans across the globe, particularly on platforms like TikTok, where it soundtracked affectionate and humorous videos.

The decision to incorporate it into a branded content piece was met with immediate applause from her followers. The comment section of the post was swiftly flooded with praise, with fans labelling the move as "iconic."

One admirer wrote: "This is iconic. I love that she fully embraces the memes." Another requested: "Iconic. Can we get this on a T-shirt?", while a third simply gushed: "She’s my cup of tea with 2 sugars in it. My most favourite girl in the whole world."

A New Era of Skincare and Social Media

This fun advert follows another rare Instagram appearance by Cheryl just days earlier, on Tuesday. In that post, the makeup-free star offered a glimpse into her skincare routine, declaring she had entered a "new era" in looking after herself.

As a Nivea ambassador, she shared a clip using the brand's Epigenetics Age Rewind Serum, narrating that after six months of twice-daily use, her skin had become "more radiant and glowy." She enthusiastically added: "Science is doing its thing, it's a new era for my routine and I am ready."

The week also brought an unexpected moment of confusion for Cheryl's fans on Spotify. A five-minute, 48-second religious track titled 'Yesus Kau Baik Bagiku' (translating to 'Jesus You Are Good To Me'), featuring a woman singing in Indonesian, was briefly uploaded to her artist page. The song, which did not feature Cheryl's vocals and was a stark contrast to her usual pop style, was mistakenly attributed to her due to another singer sharing the same first name, Cheryl Tuasuun. The streaming platform has since removed the track from her profile.
