Dan Walker criticised for sharing 'insensitive' Peaty wedding photos despite ban
Dan Walker slammed over Peaty wedding photo post

Former BBC Breakfast presenter Dan Walker has found himself at the centre of a social media storm after sharing images from the wedding of Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty and television chef Holly Ramsay, despite an explicit request for guests not to take photos.

Broadcaster breaks wedding protocol

The star-studded ceremony took place on Saturday, 27 December 2025, at the historic Bath Abbey. However, the lavish event was overshadowed by a deep family rift, with all but one member of Adam Peaty's family excluded from the guest list. In light of the sensitive situation, attendees were asked to refrain from posting pictures on social media.

Walker, a TV and radio broadcaster who attended the wedding, appeared to go against this request. He posted two images to his Instagram account: one showing the title page of the couple's order of ceremony, and another revealing the hymn they had selected for their nuptials.

Fans brand posts 'insensitive'

Although the photos seemed harmless, they sparked immediate criticism from his followers, who labelled the move as "insensitive" given the absence of Peaty's closest relatives. One commenter pointedly wrote: "Shame he didn't invite his Mother!"

Another follower expressed their disappointment directly: "Sorry Dan, but did you really have to post this? For those of Adam's family who weren't there, for whatever reason, it might come across as insensitive." The sentiment was echoed by others who questioned the need for public sharing, with one asking, "Are some things not kept private?"

A wedding marred by family feud

The backlash highlights the intense drama surrounding the wedding. Peaty's mother, Caroline, was notably absent, having decided against her initial plan to gatecrash the event, stating it would be "too upsetting". She spent the day at the family home in Uttoxeter, Staffordshire.

The friction reportedly came to a head just minutes before the ceremony, when Peaty received a scathing text message from his aunt, Louise. The message, published by MailOnline, read: "I hope you never suffer the depth of pain you have put your mother through... Remember on this, your happiest day... that you hurt your mum so deeply her soul screams."

Despite the hurt, Caroline Peaty has kept the door open for reconciliation. She told MailOnline: "They are both still loved, there is nothing I won't forgive... A wedding day is such a happy event, and I think family should have been the priority." The incident serves as a stark reminder of the complex interplay between celebrity, privacy, and family dynamics in the public eye.
