Davina McCall's New Year Message: Health Battle & New Husband
Davina McCall shares New Year message after health battle

Television presenter Davina McCall has shared an emotional New Year's message with her supporters, opening up about a challenging year that included a breast cancer diagnosis and her recent marriage to celebrity hairdresser Michael Douglas.

A Year of Challenges and New Beginnings

The 58-year-old star, who is set to return to our screens this weekend for the new series of ITV's The Masked Singer, posted the video on her Instagram account. She expressed gratitude for the "very kind support" she received online during a difficult period.

McCall's year was marked by significant health concerns. In late 2024, she underwent an operation for a benign brain tumour. Then, just twelve months later, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. The former Big Brother host discovered a lump in her breast while filming for The Masked Singer last year.

"It was very, very small, so I got it very, very early which is incredibly lucky," McCall explained in a previous video. She underwent a lumpectomy at London's Royal Marsden Hospital in October 2025 and stated she felt "very angry" at the discovery but was now in a "much more positive place."

Love and Support from a New Husband

Amidst her health struggles, a bright spot emerged in McCall's personal life. In December 2025, she married long-term partner Michael Douglas in an intimate ceremony in Kent. The couple had become engaged earlier in the year while in Ibiza.

In her New Year's address, McCall made a point of mentioning her new spouse, who has been a pillar of support. "I'm just sending you all a big New Year's hug and so is my husband Michael," she said, deliberately emphasising the word 'husband'.

She also promoted her 'Begin Again' podcast, which will feature a 'Reset Month' in January 2026. "It's basically for all of us who want to kick 2026's a*** and do good this year," she told her followers.

Fan Support and Looking Ahead

The message prompted an outpouring of love from McCall's fans. Supporters flooded the comments with well-wishes for her health and happiness in 2026.

One fan called her a "very inspirational person," while another, who is also undergoing breast cancer treatment, wrote: "I've been going through breast cancer too the latter part of this year, so glad to see the back of it. 2026 will be so much bigger better and brighter for sure!"

McCall's professional life continues at pace. The Masked Singer returns to ITV1 on Saturday, January 3 at 6.30pm with a new twist: the first two episodes will feature a full live band, with the panel tasked with identifying the lead singer.

In her message, McCall urged women to be vigilant about their health, reinforcing the importance of regular breast checks following her own experience.
