Eamonn Holmes' Biggest Regret Revealed After Split from Ruth Langsford
Eamonn Holmes on marriage regret and life after Ruth Langsford

Former This Morning presenter Eamonn Holmes has given a revealing interview about his personal regrets in the wake of his highly-publicised separation from his wife of 14 years, Ruth Langsford.

A Question Left Unanswered

In a candid conversation for the January edition of Mind Jump magazine, the 66-year-old broadcaster was directly asked about his biggest regret. Holmes intentionally left the question unanswered, skillfully avoiding a direct reference to the breakdown of his long-term marriage.

However, when pressed on what he would change if he could turn back time, Holmes offered a telling insight. "I'd try to find a better balance between my career and my personal life," he admitted. He emphasised the priority of family, adding, "Family comes first. Don't waste time on grudges or negativity, life is too short."

Moving On in Different Ways

The couple, who were iconic fixtures on ITV's This Morning for over a decade until their departure in 2021, announced their split 18 months ago. Reports at the time suggested the separation followed several months of arguments.

Since then, their paths have diverged. Holmes moved on quickly with relationship counsellor Katie Alexander, who is 22 years his junior. The pair had reportedly met several years prior, though there is no suggestion of any infidelity during his marriage.

Ruth Langsford, 65, is believed to be currently single. In a recent interview with Woman and Home, she struck a resilient and optimistic tone about her future. "I haven't been put off having a relationship. I haven't even been put off marriage," she stated, while clarifying she is not actively looking. "I've realised I'm actually quite good on my own... that chapter now feels quite exciting. It's not as scary as I thought."

Ongoing Divorce and Financial Strains

The former couple are yet to officially divorce, and the process has reportedly become acrimonious, centring on financial settlements. They are said to be at war over their money, with Ruth apparently upset that their £2.5million family home in Weybridge will have to be sold.

Holmes has also spoken publicly about separate financial pressures, claiming he has been 'ruined' by HMRC in a dispute over his tax status during his time at ITV between 2011 and 2015.

Despite the personal turmoil, both have continued to focus on their careers and personal wellbeing. Langsford recently celebrated her 65th birthday with friends in the Caribbean, while Holmes has continued his broadcasting work. The pair share a 23-year-old son, Jack.
