Ewan McGregor Sells Prized Motorcycles from Collection After Scotland Return
Ewan McGregor Sells Harley and BMW Bikes in Online Auction

Hollywood actor and noted motorcycle enthusiast Ewan McGregor has decided to part with two prized machines from his extensive collection, placing them up for sale in an online auction. The Trainspotting star is offering a rare Harley-Davidson Electra Glide Revival and a nearly new BMW K 1600 GT to the highest bidder.

Return to Scotland Prompts Sale

The 54-year-old actor previously kept these motorcycles at his former home in California. However, following his permanent relocation back to his native Scotland, McGregor has opted to clear some space. In 2023, he purchased a magnificent £2 million mansion in Scotland and has since been dedicating more time to his homeland, prompting this sale of vehicles.

The Collector's Harley-Davidson

The first machine on offer is a particularly special 2021 Harley-Davidson Electra Glide Revival. This model was part of an extremely limited global release, with only 1,500 units ever produced, instantly making it a highly sought-after item for collectors. It boasts the powerful Milwaukee-Eight 114 twin engine and has a reported top speed of approximately 110 mph.

Finished in a distinctive blue and white chrome paint scheme, the bike is being sold with no reserve price. Despite this, similar models typically command prices exceeding £20,000, indicating its significant value.

The Low-Mileage BMW

Accompanying the Harley is a 2022 BMW K 1600 GT. This touring motorcycle has seen minimal use, having clocked up a mere 617 miles from new. At the time of writing, the current top bid for this pristine BMW stands at £5,300, though this figure is likely to increase as the auction progresses.

Marketing by Iconic Motorbike Auctions

The sale is being managed by the specialist US firm, Iconic Motorbike Auctions, which has made both bikes available for inspection at its base in California. The auction house has published a description that proudly states the seller is "the world-renowned actor and motorcycle enthusiast Ewan McGregor."

The description continues, "He has decided to clear some space and is selling a few cars and motorcycles. Iconic is proud to help Ewan with the two-wheelers." The company added that McGregor, who inspired countless riders with his 'Long Way' television series, visited their facility after a track day and asked for their assistance with the sale.

Connection to Long Way Home

McGregor's passion for motorcycling is well-documented. Last year, he starred in the Apple TV series Long Way Home, which followed him and his friend Charley Boorman on an epic motorbike journey from Scotland to the south of England, via Scandinavia. This adventure further cemented his status as a genuine enthusiast within the global riding community.

New Life in Scotland

This sale follows other significant changes in McGregor's life. Last year, he and his wife, actress Mary Elizabeth Winstead, sold their luxury property in Los Angeles's Topanga Canyon for around £5 million. His return to Scotland was underscored when he accepted an outstanding contribution award from Bafta Scotland in November.

During his acceptance speech, he paid a heartfelt tribute to his 40-year-old wife, expressing a desire to work on more projects in Scotland so the couple would not have to be apart. "Mary and I are now here in Scotland, so to save us the pain of having to be apart, maybe you could come up with lots of Scottish films that we can be in together," he remarked.

Details of the Scottish Estate

McGregor's new Scottish base is a substantial Category C-listed property, for which he paid £2.35 million. The impressive estate features ten bedrooms, a gate lodge, a courtyard of outbuildings, and over 15,000 square feet of living space spread across three floors. Amenities include a two-bedroom flat, extensive stores, and a wine cellar, providing ample room for his new life back home.
