Ferne McCann on 'Thinjection' Pressure: 'I Felt Big on the Red Carpet'
Ferne McCann: Weight Loss Jabs Are a 'Worrying Trend'

Reality TV star Ferne McCann has voiced serious concerns about a "worrying trend" she believes is pushing women, particularly those in the public eye, to shrink their bodies, linking it directly to the soaring popularity of weight loss injections.

The Red Carpet Moment That Shook Her Confidence

The 35-year-old mother of two, who is engaged to Lorri Haines, told of a recent experience at a glitzy event that threatened years of hard-won self-acceptance. "I noticed so many thin women walking down the red carpet alongside me and I'm not joking, I actually felt 'big'," McCann confessed. She explained that she began to question her body in a way she hadn't for years, observing a stark shift back towards a "heroin chic look of the 90s."

As a mum to daughters Sunday, eight, and Finty, two, she finds this cultural pivot particularly alarming. "What happened to that body positivity movement?" she asked, stating her belief that the trend is "without doubt" connected to the rise of weight-loss jabs.

Clarifying Her Stance on 'Thinjections'

McCann was keen to stress that she is not "slamming weight loss jabs," acknowledging they can be revolutionary for those with genuine medical need. However, she worries about their widespread use and the new culture of "thinjections" they have fostered.

"I do worry this new culture does put pressure on people to conform to being 'thin'," she insisted. "Their widespread use is bringing us further and further away from the body positivity movement and the freedom it afforded us to celebrate ourselves, whatever our size."

She described seeing women who once had "boobs and a bum and just really healthy, gorgeous, female bodies" who have now "shrunk down to nothing." While affirming it is their choice, McCann feels a definitive shift back towards thinness as the ideal.

Modelling Health and Strength for Her Daughters

Personally, McCann says she "wouldn't even consider" using the jabs, feeling "healthy, strong and full of vitality." She maintains her fitness with a weekly schedule including a PT session, metabolic classes, and tennis, and eats clean from Monday to Friday.

But she champions moderation, calling herself the "world's biggest foodie" and saying life without her favourite foods would be a "complete tragedy." Weekends are for family takeaways and movie night popcorn, guilt-free.

She believes in being a positive role model for her girls, with Sunday already a budding athlete. "She sees me and Lorri take good care of ourselves. There's no better message," McCann said. She also advocates for talking about "real bodies," including her own post-pregnancy changes that "should be celebrated."

"We shouldn't feel pressure to shrink ourselves – we should proudly take up space," she concluded, adding that the quest for perfection is "just so bloody... boring!"

On the home front, McCann described life as "carnage" governed by the school run, but said her relationship with Lorri has stabilised after challenging early years of parenting. While engaged since 2021, wedding plans are on hold as they focus on family, potentially expanding it with another baby first.

Professionally, she is currently the UK ambassador for skincare brand QV Skincare and is preparing to unveil a major new behind-the-scenes project later in 2026.
