Helen Flanagan Left 'Shocked' After Andrew Tate 'Slid Into Her DMs' with Bizarre Request
Former Coronation Street actress Helen Flanagan has laid bare the details of her personal life in a candid new memoir, Head & Heart, published by Mirror Books. The 35-year-old star has revealed her astonishing encounter with controversial online personality Andrew Tate, who allegedly sent her a direct message with a peculiar request.
Unexpected Message from a Controversial Figure
Helen Flanagan claims the interaction occurred after she matched with Andrew Tate on the dating app Hinge, following her 2022 split from ex-fiancé Scott Sinclair. In an extract from her book, she describes receiving a message from the 39-year-old influencer that left her both shocked and amused.
The actress recalls: "The controversial influencer and male supremacist Andrew Tate slid into my DMs with a message saying 'Sons?' alongside a heart emoji." Reflecting on her reaction, Helen continues: "I was shocked but then I laughed. And before you ask, no of course I didn't reply!"
Speaking about her experiences on dating apps, Helen admitted that not every interaction was welcome, particularly highlighting this unexpected message from Tate.
Denial from Andrew Tate's Camp
However, Andrew Tate has strongly refuted these claims through a spokesperson who told The Sun: "Andrew denies the claims, which are entirely untrue. Unfortunately, it has become a pattern for lesser known public figures to invoke his name at moments of heightened publicity, such as when promoting a new project, film, TV show or forthcoming book."
The spokesperson's statement suggests this is part of a broader pattern of individuals using Tate's controversial reputation to generate publicity for their own projects.
Other Celebrity Revelations in the Memoir
Helen's encounter with Tate isn't the only celebrity revelation in her new book. She also opens up about her relationship with former TOWIE star James Argent, who last year admitted attacking his ex-girlfriend in Spain.
The actress participated in the 2013 reality show Celebrity Super Spa alongside Arg and other stars including celebrity chefs Rusty Lee and John Burton-Race, Shameless actor Jody Latham, and Most Haunted's Yvette Fielding. The show focused on celebrities working in a real-life spa in Liverpool.
Bonding with James Argent
Recalling her time on the show, Helen revealed: "I became firm friends with James 'Arg' Argent from The Only Way is Essex and we would spend all our time together. I know the producers were hoping for a show romance to develop and they'd try to push me towards him, dropping hints like, 'Ah, you and Arg are so cute together...' But I was too mixed up over Scott and I didn't even know if I actually fancied Arg although I did like him a lot."
She continued: "He definitely wasn't my usual type. I usually went for sporty guys who were into their health and fitness whereas Arg would eat four Greggs sausage rolls for breakfast. I think he was probably more smitten with me than I was with him, but there was a fleeting spark between us that felt... odd."
Helen described a moment that could have escalated: "We were in my hotel room, lounging on the bed while he caressed my back – it could have escalated then, but something held me back. And when that moment slipped away, it felt like it was over. I hadn't moved on from Scott so using Arg as a rebound would have been a mistake."
The memoir provides fascinating insights into Helen Flanagan's personal life and her encounters with various celebrities, offering readers a glimpse behind the scenes of her relationships and experiences in the public eye.
