A 24-year-old influencer has disclosed the staggering sum of money she invested to completely reinvent her appearance to emulate the glamorous look of a WAG – a wife or girlfriend of a professional sports player.
The High Cost of a Curated Image
Ravena Hanniely, a Brazilian beauty, told the Daily Mail she has spent a whopping US$51,000 (approximately £40,000) on surgical and cosmetic procedures. Her transformation includes rhinoplasty, breast augmentation, facial harmonisation, and body contouring, alongside a total overhaul of her hair and styling.
However, Ravena is quick to clarify her motives. She did not undertake this expensive metamorphosis to attract a footballer. "I chose the WAG look because it represents power, luxury, and visibility," she explained. "It's a look that commands respect without asking for it." Her goal was to attain the immediate recognition and privileged treatment she observed comes with the image.
Reaping the Benefits of a WAG Persona
The social and professional dividends of her new look were almost instantaneous. Ravena describes receiving unsolicited VIP access at events, complimentary hotel room upgrades, and being treated as if she were already married to a famous athlete. "People invent a story about me the moment they see me," she said, noting that her appearance alone has become a powerful "form of social currency."
To maintain her meticulously crafted physique, which includes a 60cm (23-inch) micro waist, Ravena follows a strict regime. She uses up to 15 different waist trainers in rotation each day, switching between tighter styles for training and softer ones for comfort at home.
Identity, Not Deception
Despite enjoying the perks, Ravena insists she never intended to deceive people. She views her transformation as a project in identity-building, aligning her external image with her internal sense of self and the curated beauty standards prevalent on social media. "The aesthetic gave me back a version of myself that feels empowered," she added.
While not opposed to the idea of falling for a sports star naturally, she is not actively seeking one out. "I'm not targeting athletes or waiting for a footballer to slide into my messages," she stated. "If I ever become a real WAG, it will be because I chose the person, not because I wanted the status."
The WAG aesthetic, which gained global prominence in the UK around the 2006 World Cup, is synonymous with displays of wealth, designer fashion, and sculpted beauty. For Ravena, it has proven to be a lucrative investment in her social capital, unlocking a world of glamour entirely on her own terms.
