Former Football Star Jorginho Condemns Singer Over Distressing Family Incident
Former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder Jorginho Frello has launched a scathing public attack on American singer Chappell Roan after his 11-year-old step-daughter was left "shaking" and in tears following what he describes as a "completely disproportionate" encounter with the artist's security team.
Emotional Instagram Post Details Hotel Confrontation
The Brazilian footballer, who now plays for Flamengo, shared an emotional statement on Instagram Stories detailing the incident that occurred during Lollapalooza Brazil in São Paulo. Jorginho's wife, The Voice star Cat Cavelli (also known as Catherine Harding), was staying at the same hotel as Roan with her daughter Ada, whom she shares with actor Jude Law.
According to Jorginho's account:
- Ada had been "incredibly excited" about potentially seeing her idol Chappell Roan
- The 11-year-old had even made a sign expressing her admiration for the singer
- During breakfast, Ada simply walked past Roan's table, looked to confirm it was her, smiled, and returned to her mother without speaking
- Moments later, a large security guard approached their table and spoke "in an extremely aggressive manner"
- The guard accused Ada of "disrespect" and "harassment" and threatened to file a complaint with the hotel
- Ada was left "sitting there in tears" and "extremely shaken" by the confrontation
Footballer Questions Artist's Treatment of Young Fan
Jorginho, who has extensive experience with public exposure through his football career, expressed particular dismay at the treatment of a child fan. "I don't know at what point simply walking past a table and looking to see if someone is there can be considered harassment," he wrote in his Instagram post.
The footballer emphasized his understanding of boundaries and respect for public figures but argued this situation represented something different entirely. "What happened there was not that. It was just a child admiring someone," he stated.
Strong Words About Fan-Artist Relationship
In his concluding remarks, Jorginho delivered a powerful message about the importance of fans to artists' careers. "It's sad to see this kind of treatment coming from those who should understand the importance of fans. At the end of the day, they are the ones who build all of this," he wrote.
The footballer ended his post with a direct challenge to the singer: "@chappellroan WITHOUT YOUR FANS, YOU WOULD BE NOTHING. AND TO THE FANS, SHE DOES NOT DESERVE YOUR AFFECTION."
